House Sales Continue Steady Rise

DSCN1278-620x400A November increase in home sales in Chatham-Kent compared with the same time a year ago is being described as small progress toward better numbers.  Jamie Winkler the president of the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors says 89 homes changed hands last month and sales year-to-date are up 4.3%.  “Inventory was down a little bit, but the average sale price was up, the numbers were up,” he says. “It’s not a fast change it would be nice if we could move the numbers a little faster than what is happening.”  The average sale price in November was $146,667 an increase of 5% from last November.  However Winkler says the average sale price so far this year is $157,501, up 4.8% from the same time a year ago.
